About Certus

Hearing every word should never have been a luxury.

Certus makes certified hearing aids that are invisible, simple and honestly priced, because staying part of the conversation should not cost thousands, mean a waiting list, or end up in a drawer.

What the name means

certus

Latin · adjective · ker-toos

“Sure. Settled. Proven. Something you can rely on.”

We did not pick a word that sounds like a badge. We picked one we would have to live up to. It is a promise about how we behave, and it is the reason we can say plainly what every Certus device is: a certified hearing aid for mild to moderate hearing loss. Not a gadget with a medical word borrowed for the advert.

And then we put 90 days behind it, so the name is not just something we say.

An older man sitting at a window-lit kitchen table in the morning, holding one tiny Certus One device between his finger and thumb and looking at it with cautious hope, the open case in front of him

Our story

Certus started with a drawer.

In it: a pair of devices that cost more than a family holiday, worn twice, abandoned.

And beside that drawer, a father who had quietly stopped joining conversations. Who laughed a half-second after everyone else, because he was copying the room. Who said “nothing, don't worry” when you asked what he'd missed.

The clinics wanted thousands to try again. The cheap gadgets online whistled, screeched, and made the kettle as loud as the conversation. There was nothing in between: nothing honest, comfortable and affordable that ordinary people could actually live with.

So we built the in-between. Certus devices are certified hearing aids for mild to moderate hearing loss, small enough that nobody has to know, simple enough to set up at your own kitchen table, and priced so that trying them is not a financial decision that needs a family meeting.

The drawer is the real enemy. We would rather take a device back than become the thing in the drawer.

Which is why every pair comes with 90 days at home to prove itself in real life: dinners, phone calls, the television at a volume the neighbours don't hear. If it doesn't earn its place in your ear, it goes back and you get your money back.

Hearing every word again should never have been a luxury. Now it isn't.

Our promises

The promises are part of the product.

A device is easy to ship. How we behave after it arrives is the part most of this industry gets wrong.

  • A human answers

Real help with fit, setup, returns and guarantee questions, from a person who read what you wrote.

  • Protected purchase

A structured 90-day home trial, and a 2-year guarantee against manufacturing faults. Two different worries, both covered.

  • No pressure

No countdown clocks, no invented stock warnings, no fake queue of buyers behind you. If the offer is good, it can wait ten minutes.
